The Rook – by Wind River Tiny Homes

Ever find yourself tracing the lines of the bricks in that old building downtown that has been converted to a coffee shop? Or the exposed pipes at the loft apartments at the old mill, converted and re-purposed? The Rook has that industrial look. The clean lines of the windows and the herringbone floor pattern create tension with the rough-cut wood finishes and metal pipe fixtures. It has an old-world look and feel with finishes that could translate into a lot of other styles, such as modern, eclectic, and maybe even gypsy chic?

“Building becomes architecture only when the mind consciously takes it and tries with all its resources to make it beautiful”
-Frank Lloyd Wright
The Rook was a special and uncommon build with a design aesthetic that was both warm and moody and had a decidedly industrial feel. This 24′ home was full of custom built-ins and features, including metal and wood open shelving, stone countertops, floating stairs, and black casement windows. The layered textures and dark palette with a pop of color provided interest in every corner for a truly unique look and feel.

Here are some of the custom features that are included in this turnkey tiny house:

  • Multi-pitch roof combining off-set gable roof with shed roof

  • Vertical siding with exposed stainless steel screws and rain-screen construction

  • Real brick veneer interior accents

  • Custom fab I-beam floating stairs to loft

  • Steel pipe fixtures, ladder, and other custom industrial hardware and brackets

  • Herringbone pattern hardwood floors

  • Wood wainscoting accents
